Soil Disposal Categorisation at Marker Road, Melbourne Airport
Soil Hazard Categorisation to IWRG #702 of stockpiled material (~ 200 m3) generated from trenching works.
Detailed Site Investigation at McNabbs Road, Melbourne Airport, Vic.
What began as disposal classification of 15,000 m3 in-situ soil became a detailed site investigation focusing on perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), a perfluorinated compound (PFC) due to historical fire training and for which no for disposal criterion exists. Some notable observations included: a distinct vertical concentration gradient in the soil profile, leachable concentrations arising in samples having total concentrations less than lab LORs, and elevated PFOS concentrations in low lying areas. The detailed site assessment performed by Atma Environmental informed the completion of a site-specific ecological and human health risk assessment for this persistent and highly mobile contaminant.
Underground Storage Tank Validation & Stockpile Sampling at Melbourne Airport, Victoria
Underground storage tank validation and sampling of made stockpile to determine the contamination status of the remaining soils and the off-site disposal classification as per IWRG 621 and IWRG 702 Guidelines.
