Project Overview

Atma Environmental completed further investigation and risk assessment at a major development site in Epping, following a Detailed Site Investigation that identified arsenic and zinc impacts across parts of the site, including a former sheep dip area. The work included targeted leachability testing, arsenic bioaccessibility assessment and specialist human health and ecological risk assessment for the proposed future recreational / open space land use.

The risk assessment concluded that arsenic and zinc in soil posed a low and acceptable risk to future human and ecological receptors, meaning no further risk evaluation or broad remediation was required for those impacts. This allowed remediation to be focused on a discrete former aboveground storage tank area, where lead and hydrocarbon contamination required removal, with the affected soils separated into Category A, B and C disposal domains.
