Atma Environmental prepared a Site Contamination Management Plan for the this Councils operational depot, including offices, workshops, vehicle parking, a wash bay, storage areas and civil works operations. Previous investigations had identified contaminated fill soils and shallow groundwater requiring ongoing management.
The SCMP provided a practical framework to manage contamination risks during ongoing depot use and future excavation works. Key controls included maintaining hardstand and surface barriers, prohibiting groundwater use, managing soil disturbance, segregating fill and natural soils, controlling dust and runoff, managing contaminated groundwater, implementing asbestos finds procedures, and ensuring lawful off-site disposal of contaminated soil.
