Atma Environmental was engaged by a major land developer to review potential contamination-related liabilities associated with the acquisition and development of a land which was part of a former petroleum terminal and was intended for future townhouse development.
Atma reviewed the completed Environmental Audit, cover-layer requirements, groundwater management obligations, construction and post-development management plans, and restrictions on future residential use. The advice identified key development constraints, including maintaining the required cover layer, managing contaminated sub-cover soils, soil disposal costs, basement vapour mitigation requirements, groundwater restrictions and the need to inform future owners and occupiers of ongoing audit and management obligations.
