Atma Environmental prepared a Waste Management Plan for a large waste stockpile in response to an EPA Clean Up Notice. The stockpile was estimated at approximately 52,100 m³ and had been categorised as Category C Reportable Priority Waste due to sporadic asbestos finds, with widespread low-level PFAS also identified.
The plan assessed waste management options against the waste hierarchy and identified landfill disposal as the preferred approach due to asbestos contamination, PFAS impacts, decomposition, heat generation and geotechnical constraints. Atma outlined roles, regulatory requirements, asbestos controls, truck lining and loading procedures, fire and dust management, waste tracking, complaint handling and post-removal validation requirements to support safe and compliant removal.
