Project Overview

Atma Environmental was engaged to categorise waste soil generated by the a major sewer rehabilitation project, which involved directional drilling and trenching across multiple driveways and road crossings. The alignment extended across residential and industrial areas with variable contamination potential, including nearby historic industrial uses, EPA audit areas, an EPA-licensed premises and a closed biosolids landfill.

Atma completed a targeted desktop review, site inspection and soil sampling across 13 locations, allowing the linear works area to be assessed as multiple potential classification domains. A broad analytical screen was completed, followed by leachable PFAS testing and 95% UCL assessment where required. The tested soil was categorised as Category C Reportable Priority Waste for off-site disposal, with relevant EPA waste transport codes and management advice provided.
